So I thought I would write a little blurb about my experience here in Park City Utah! It started out pretty good in the summer time with nice weather, hikes and somewhat friendly people. Then came the snow and boy did it come. The first tradgedy of the snow was a broken windshield. I went to scrape my window in the morning on my way to work and the window had a large crack on the drivers side. The next few days my window wipers broke because they were frozen and the ice stripped the plastic off. Just a few other fun experiences include: breaking a shovel due to the weight of the snow, having to pay somebody eighty dollars to plow the driveway after the shovel was broken and I was defeated, purchasing a pair of ski pants and two pairs of sorel snow shoes, of course I could not forget the gloves, hats and several new coats to complete the winter season. These are just a couple of memorable horror stories of my time so far in Park City!

Park City Adventures...am I still in Utah?
I have spent almost three weeks in my new home and am not quite sure what to think of it. I feel like I have traveled the world and never left home. New friends old and young have been very easy to come upon. I have received some treasures/presents from India, Israel and I believe Paris all in three weeks. My new best friend is 65 and the president of her company is a huge golden retriever by the name of Jackson. My assistant manager will not ride in a car with anyone and will not allow anyone to ride in her car with her. She says if she drives off a cliff she will be okay because she has a survival kit and plenty of canned stew! What the hell, i think if you drove off of a cliff you would be dead who cares about the food? I have been walking up and down the streets of Park City for three weeks with my eyes wide open. There are constantly signs to vote for Oboma and every where you go someone wants to talk to you or get you to sign up for "save our canyons" or some other group or organization that they are overly passionate about. I think i may be back in Vermont. Oh but there is construction on every corner....I am in Utah.

Sisters
This is such a fun photo that has a funny story to go with it. This was after my date with the "Farm Boy". It was so funny to have my whole family there to help me get ready. It felt like I was going to the Prom or something. It was so funny to watch everyone get so excited about it. We had everything from my mom trying to wash dishes very slow so she could see him walk up the sidewalk to my dad putting on his best outfit...his leather bikers vest a cowboy hat and his favorite colorful shorts with his J.Crew dog socks. It was so funny, we were all laughing.

One Crazy Week!
Lets hope I can look back at this year as a very memorable experience. After this past week I believe I truly understand what patience and biting your tongue in certain situations is like. I have never in my life met so many demanding, high maintenance people in my life until I moved to L.A. Wow who would have thought that purchasing a 9.99 shirt could be so difficult.... just by it it 9.99 and twenty five percent off that price. I know that the words "final sale" really scare you but I promise you will be all right as much as the early Monday returns day will be missed. I don't quite think I understand this customer yet or ever will. Where I was raised you were able to make decisions on your own and you did not need attention or an opinion from every associate in the store. I think that is the problem with L.A... everyone is worried about what some body else thinks, how about worrying about your self for once. I think that there is very little character or self identification with this being. All I can say is I will really miss the sunshine here but I will not miss this customer. I am so excited for my mini 2 day break for when Erica comes to visit. It will be also just as exciting when mom and the girls come into town for the 4th of July. It will be so nice to be able to celebrate a holiday with family and I am looking forward to many more down the road.

Life Changes
So lately there has been quite a few changes going on here in the sunny state of California. For starters my favorite manager/friend Lorelyn had her last day at J.crew with me. She has been such a fun person to work with and I am sad to let her go but excited for the opportunity ahead of her.Big news, it looks like I am going to finally be moving closer to home...Park City! It has been practically 10 years since I have lived home. I am excited for the opportunity and everything seems to be falling into place. I told my dad he must be very rightous because he said he had been praying for me to move closer, or hell is about to freeze over! I am not so sure which it is but hopefully it all works out and I get to spend more time with my family and friends.

Motivation
So I have been thinking a lot about this word lately...what does it take to motivate someone? I think it has been on my mind personally and professionally a lot lately. I am having a hard time motivating myself to get out and exercise. I have always loved sports and physical activity but my stupid bunion is causing my foot to ache every time I put on my gym shoe ouch! I don't know what it is about my lazy self lately. But on the other hand I feel like I have been really motiviating my staff to strive to do better and raise the bar a little bit. I believe that just comes with constant postive feedback and appreciation of their hard efforts. It feels so rewarding to see the smiles on their faces when they have done a great job. So maybe I need someone to encourage me to excercise more frequently... I guess it will be good to live near my sister soon because she can be my motivation and whip me into shape.
